The Kingsley Inn and Alpha’s
Restaurant have been sold to Tim and Tami Waggoner.
Fayek and Becky Andrawes announced today the
sale of the Kingsley Inn and Alpha’s Restaurant to Tim and Tami
Waggoner. After three years of ownership Fayek Andrawes says, “Becky
and I have enjoyed making Fort Madison and the inn our home and look
forward to our next adventure. We are confident that the Waggoner’s
will extend the Kingsley Inn experience.”
The Kingsley Inn overlooks the Mississippi
River, in downtown Fort Madison and is a historic Victorian inn with
exquisitely restored antiques, beautiful draperies, and wall
coverings “After an extensive search Tami and I discovered the
Kingsley Inn and Alpha’s and felt we had found what we were looking
for,” said Tim Waggoner. “The inn and restaurant are so impressive,
the people are very friendly, and living in Fort Madison feels like
coming home. Fort Madison is definitely a place we feel we can build
our
future.”
Tim and Tami Waggoner both grew up in small
towns in the Midwest. Tim hails from a small town south of Chicago,
IL called Crete; while Tami comes from a town between Madison and
Milwaukee, WI called Fort Atkinson. Tim and Tami left Crete for
Maryland in 1997 so Tim could work at corporate headquarters for a
software company, Group 1 Software, eventually becoming a senior
executive. While in Maryland, Tami was a primary grades teacher at
the parochial school their three children attended.
Tim and Tami Waggoner have three children:
Caty, a junior at Martin Luther College in New Ulm, Minnesota.
Nate, a freshman at Wisconsin Lutheran College in Milwaukee,
Wisconsin, and Cari, a junior at Wisconsin Lutheran High School also
in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
The buildings that are now home to the
Kingsley Inn and Alpha’s Restaurant were originally constructed in
the 1850’s. After undergoing renovation between 1990-1992, both
buildings were named in honor of Lt. Alpha Kingsley who established
Fort Madison in 1804. The Kingsley Inn and Alpha’s Restaurant are
both award-winning businesses including the Iowa Governor’s Award
for the Best Reuse of an Existing Building.
The new owners will continue to operate both
businesses without interruption.
