Samuel F. Miller moved to Keokuk, Iowa in 1850 to practice law. He was also a real
estate investor and one of the founders of the Republican Party. He was appointed a
Justice on the U.S. Supreme Court from 1862 - 1890 by Abraham Lincoln. His home, The
Miller House Museum, can be toured at 318 N. 5th Street in Keokuk by appointment. He is
interred at Oakland Cemetery.
